Enoch from Book 1 – Shadow Jumper The Quest

Posted on 05/11/2023 • “Enoch from Book 1–Shadow Jumper The Quest”

In Shadow Jumper, The Quest, we meet the character Enoch, a God fearing man, who becomes an ally to the children when they discover themselves in a strange land.

Who is the real Enoch?

Fact:

Enoch is a descendant of Adam. He is one of only two people in the Bible whom escaped death, the other being Elijah. The bible tells us that,

he could not be found, because God had taken him away

Enoch and his family were Ethiopian, and he was the great Gran-father of Noah.

Noah was born a white-skinned, blonde hair boy, this was unusual as his parents and family were dark-skinned. His grandfather Methuselah, the son of Enoch, feared that the child was from the gods, and he went to his father for advice. Enoch took his great grandson in his arms and said, this is a special child from God, and he should be named Noah, Enoch prophesied that Noah and his family would survive the flood and they would be used by God.

It is said that Enoch lived for 365 years before God took him. What happened to Enoch? The Bible gives few details, other than to say: “… then he was no more because God took him away.” (Genesis 5:24, NIV)…. this implies that Enoch did not die a natural, physical death, God took him, so he was no longer present on earth, another popular Christian terminology would be, and he was rapture.

He also wrote the book of Enoch, which contains unique material on the origins of angels, demons and giants, and why some angels fell from heaven, explaining the great flood. Which may be one reason they excluded it from the Christian Bible in the 4th Century, and now regarded as scripture by only the Ethiopian and Eritrean church. It is also part of the dead sea scrolls. Jude mention Enoch in the New Testament, Jude 1:14-15. “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,”

Hebrews 11:5-6

5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
