The Prince of Egypt
Who is Moses?
He was one of God’s chosen prophets, used in the story of the Hebrew nation and Christianity.
Born in Egypt, into Hebrew family.
Placed in a basket as a small baby and put afloat on the river Nile by his parents, to protect him from Pharaoh’s Soldiers.
The Princess rescued him and he was raised in Pharaoh’s palace.
Raised a prince in line to the throne.
His life changed, when he killed the Egyptian slave-masters whom he caught beating a Hebrew man. He then buried him and fled to Northwest Saudi Arabia.
There he became a shepherd and married the daughter of Midianite Priest.
One day while Moses was shepherding it surprised him to see a burning bush which wasn’t being consumed by the fire.
God told Moses from the burning bush that he had heard the cries of the captive Hebrews. God commanded Moses to lead the people out of Egypt and bring them to the Promised Land.
Moses said to God that he could not speak eloquently, so God allowed Moses’ elder brother Aaron to become his spokesperson
Moses and Aaron visited Pharaoh, and shared, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Let my people go!” Not only did Pharaoh refuse, but he invoked harder labour for the Hebrew slaves.
When asked again to let the Hebrews go, his heart cold and hard, Pharaoh refused the request. So began a series of ten plagues of Egypt
